I received a call around 2:00pm regarding my delivery services. The person needed 2 IKEA bookcases transported from a residential location near West Broadway to his house in East Vancouver. I got there as quick as possible. The weather was miserable. It was coming down very hard so they decided to wait for me to show up before bringing the bookcases out. Once I got there they started bringing out the first bookcase. I laid a blanket down and we slid it in. The second bookcase was too large to fit beside the other one because of my wheel wells so we put it on top. I carefully secured the bookcases with straps so nothing would move around while driving. And since the bookcases were longer than my truck I covered the ends sticking out with stretch wrap so everything would stay nice and dry. While I got my truck ready he loaded the remaining small pieces into his car. After everything was loaded and secured we both took off in our vehicles. I let him take the lead and followed. At his place we unloaded both the bookcases into his garage and he paid me $40. This job took a little bit longer than I expected and I didn’t expect to get drenched either but at least I dried out by the time I got to my next job! Oddly enough it was actually pretty refreshing for a change to get just completely soaked from head to toe!
