I received a call today from a person regarding the delivery of a stove and fridge that they had purchased from IKEA. Apparently all IKEA appliance pick-ups and drop-offs are processed though a different company called Dynamex Canada Inc. located in Burnaby on 5898 Trapp Avenue. The person needed the fridge and stove delivered to their house in Queensborough in New Westminster as soon as possible. They had recently purchased a new house and done some small renovations so they wanted the new appliances in right away. Dynamex/IKEA does provide delivery services however they could not provide same day or next day delivery so that is where I come in!
Initially we were going to set it up for the next day but due to some scheduling conflicts on her end we decided to do it today instead. We meet at the Dynamex warehouse on 5898 Trapp Ave. at 2:30pm. The customer pick-up was through the back so I parked it at the first loading bay. However the loading bays were designed for the bigger trucks so we decided it would be easier to load the appliances from the side door which had a ramp. There were 3 pieces total. The the stove and an attachment that came with it and the fridge. First we loaded the stove plus attachment into the back of my truck. Then I laid down some blankets and we placed the fridge on its side. Before leaving I properly secured the fridge with some straps and marked the end with a red flap. The drop-off location was right across the Queensborough Bridge. It only took me around 15 to 20 minutes to get to her place even with my slow driving. My main concern was speed bumps and pot holes. Once I got to her place we unloaded the appliances into her garage and she paid me $70. This was my first time doing an appliance delivery from IKEA. Hell, I didn’t even know IKEA sells appliances until today! Overall I am pleased with the way things panned out. Everything went perfectly and there were no problems or issues.
